Joseph McCalla, Sexton

Joe, a long-standing member of Tully since 1976, has taken on every challenge presented before him in his Christian journey and done so with a smile and a song (literally!) We have been blessed to have Joe ordained as an active Elder, Deacon and serves on the Board of Trustees. He volunteers to assist on Sundays with ushering, serving communion as well as singing in the Choir. He was one of the Men's Bible Class team who prepared and served the Easter Pancake Breakfast for many years and can be seen gardening on the church grounds. He was the perfect fit for the position of Sexton when it opened up and agreed to take it on as a volunteer.

Before his retirement, Joe was a railroad employee having worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, later merged into Penn Central and ultimately Consolidated Rail Corp. (CONRAIL). He held various positions over his 42+ years of service. Upon retirement, he continued to work part-time for 13 years as Security for the Little Flower Manor in Darby.  Joe has always given of his time and talents in the community as well. He was involved in the Sharon Hill Ramblers Youth Football, local Boy Scout troops and was one of the original organizers for the area Street Hockey League where the untimate award at the end of the season was the "McCalla Cup"!

Joe is married to his wife and Tully member, Floss. They have a son, Joe, then share parenting with his grown children Mary Jo, Patrick & Kathy and Floss's grown children Tracey & Brian. They have 20 grandchildren ranging from ages 5 - 20 years old. Joe still takes on school delivery duty every day for the young ones and volunteers for classroom events.
